We are constantly told by visitors that the garden is peaceful. Situated at the far end of a lane with little traffic, the overriding noise is that of bird song.
We are lucky to have a backdrop of trees and many more have been planted in the garden by ourselves and previous owners.
When one of the large ash trees came down in a gale a few years ago, we were able to take advantage of the extra light by developing a woodland garden with many unusual shade loving plants. We have since been able to add several of these to our nursery benches.
Other parts of the garden have a sunnier aspect which has enabled us to indulge our passion for growing plants from around the world, and in particular Salvias both hardy and tender.
The front garden has been developed as a crevice area for alpine plants
With a mosaic of trees, shrubs, perennials, ferns and climbers, there is a surprise around every corner at Woodlands, but don’t take our word for it, come and see for yourselves.
